Small Fire in Montgomery County
Sunday, October 18, 2009

First thing this morning, Engine 343 was dispatched 3rd due to Takoma Park for a house fire. Engine Co. 2 went on the scene with smoke showing from the attic and made quick work of a small contents fire. The Engine crew from Langley Park advanced a backup line and stood by. As they were waiting, the homeowner advised them that her "babies" were still inside the house. That was all Fireman Skillet needed to hear. He sprang into action, deftly rescuing four caged birds from their slightly smoky confines and returning them to their rightful owner. After the heroics were concluded, the Bomberos stopped by the WAH to get Skillet a bird flu vaccine before heading home.
